71 years ago, on the 17th of August, 1945
Indonesia declared it's independence from Japan
Now, 71 years after that, current Indonesian president Jokowi Dodo is at the 'Istana', about to watch the Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony, with the raising of Indonesia's red-white flag.
The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. local time, 26 minutes after this thread was posted.
2 Sukhoi 35s and 3 F-15s fly over, to mark the beginning of the ceremony.
